In October 1884 General Wolseley led a small British force down the Nile in an unsuccessful bid to rescue General Gordon who was besieged in Khartoum in the Sudan by a Mahdist host. Our range includes the specially clothed Infantrymen, sailors. and camel corps of the Expedition and their colourful opponents including Ansar warriors, and the doughty Fuzzy Wuzzy Hadendowa warrior so nicknamed after his Hayrick hair style.
