W. Britain gets the Royal Stamp of approval!
In 1893 A British clockwork toymaker named William Britain tried his hand at making toy soldiers. And the rest, as they say, is history. For almost 125 years, W. Britain has been hand-crafting history in miniature, producing some of the most life-like, historically accurate and highly detailed figures the world has ever seen.
The W. Britain name has become synonymous with toy soldiers and is recognised as an iconic British brand. We are very honoured to have been selected as one of ten iconic toy brands who will be celebrated in a new set of stamps from the Royal Mail. Royal Mail spokesman Philip Parker said: "British toymakers enjoyed a reputation for quality and innovation. These nostalgic stamps celebrate 10 wonderful toys that have endured through the decades."
The series of 10 stamps were unveiled on Tuesday 22nd August much to our delight and can be purchased at 7,000 post offices and online. Characters in the set include the Sindy Doll and Action Man, as well as brands like Spirograph, Stickle Bricks and Fuzzy Felt. Meccano, the Merrythought bear, W Britain toy figures, Space Hopper and Hornby Dublo trains also feature.
A lot has changed in the last 125 years but our commitment to producing authentic high-quality hand painted Model Figures and Toy Soldiers has not!
